Emma Nichol, 90, of Marshalltown, formerly of Beaman, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at UnityPoint Health in Marshalltown due to complications after a fall. Services for Emma are scheduled for Friday, November 13 at noon at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Conrad Cemetery. A visitation will take place one hour prior, beginning at 11:00 A.M. NOTICE: In accordance with the recent state of Iowa guidelines, facial masks are required to be worn and strict practice of social distancing must be followed. To view the funeral service live stream, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/Mitchell-Family-Funeral-Home-99280714047/ Born Emma Arline Wehrman on December 7, 1929 at home in rural Conrad, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Elizabeth “Rae” (Dannen) Wehrman. She graduated from Conrad high school in 1947 and went on to attend Junior College. Emma was united in marriage to Lawrence Nichol on October 9, 1949 in at the Methodist Church in Nashua, IA. Together they raised their family in Beaman and she worked as the Beaman librarian. In her younger days, they loved traveling. Emma was a member of the Beaman Women’s Club, Beaman Legion and DAR. She was very skilled with her hands.  Emma loved to go to Hobby Lobby and make crafts, especially bookmarks and angels to hand out. She enjoyed making quilts for family members and sewing.  Emma had a green thumb, with beautiful flowers and gardens outside. She kept many plants in her home and she was especially fond of African violets and pansies. She was a very kind, caring and generous woman who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 71 years, Lawrence Nichol of Marshalltown; her children: Dan Nichol (Carol Dostal) of Marshalltown and LeAnn (John) Wax of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Jason (Jessica) Marken of Altoona and Brett Wax (Rachel Noe) of Iowa City and great-granddaughter Peyton Marken. Emma is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Rae Wehrman and her brother, Cecil Wehrman.
