Emmett G. Ryan, 92, of Marshalltown, died December 9, 2008, at Grandview Heights. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2008, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Father Don Czapla officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Ph 641-844-1234.Emmett Ryan was born on December 19, 1915, in Marshalltown. He was the son of William and Grace (Cavanaugh) Ryan. Emmett attended school at St. Marys Catholic School. He married Mildred Minard on January 29, 1938, in Vinton, Iowa, and they were wed for 70 years.Emmett worked at Lennox for 38-1/2 years. He retired to Lake Bisteneau, Louisiana, for 13 years, and then moved back to Marshalltown in 1992. He was a member of the Walmart Coffee Club, Knights of Columbus, and the Moose Lodge.Surviving are his wife, Mildred, of Marshalltown; his son, Larry (Suzy) Ryan of Shreveport, Louisiana; his daughter, Mary (Marvin) Kalbow of Andover, Minnesota; his 4 grandchildren, Cory, Casey, Melanie, and Mandy; and his 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother.
