Erma Paxton

Erma (Kelsey) Paxton, 84, died November 16, 2007 in Marshalltown.Services will be Tuesday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Erma and her family.Born on February 27, 1923, in Marshalltown, Iowa, she was the daughter of Alva and Eva (Halverson) Kelsey. She lived all her years in Marshalltown, where she received her education. She worked at Fishers and the Maid-Rite where she met the man she would marry.On March 24, 1946 she married Lloyd Paxton. They made their home in Marshalltown where she was a homemaker until her children were raised. She worked in food service in the public schools. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary for over forty years, MMSC Auxiliary member and hospital volunteer. Erma loved to read, do crafts and travel, spending the last twenty-four winters in Arizona. Cooking and baking were a real passion and we loved the results. She made our lives better in so many ways. Her family meant everything to her and she loved us with all her heart and we love her with all of ours.Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Linda (John) Yantis, Nancy Stevenson and Patricia Weiss; four grandchildren: Jessica, Matt, Allie and Corey and three great-grandsons.In death she has rejoined her husband, her parents, sisters, a brother, granddaughter Sarah Yantis and son-in-law Dennis Stevenson.
