Esther Weuve, 93, of Davenport, Iowa, formally of State Center, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Manor Care/Utica Ridge in Davenport, Iowa. Funeral services for Esther will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church located in State Center, Iowa, with Pastor Joan Swander officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, where her family will be present to greet friends and relatives. Esther Louise Weuve was born on November 5, 1922, in Middletown, Iowa, the daughter of Henry M. and Ruth F. (Hebiner) Prehm. She attended Holland Country School and graduated from Danville High School. Following high school, Esther attended Iowa Wesleyan College. On February 10, 1944, Esther was united in marriage to Leland H. Weuve in Danville, Iowa. They were blessed in marriage for 63 years, and had two daughters: Beverlee and Debra. Esther taught at a country school until she married Leland, then the two moved to a farm near State Center. Esther was a proud member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and WELCA. She enjoyed volunteering at West Marshall Elementary School and participating in both Neighborly Helper Club and Colo Thimble Club. Esther had a passion for spending time with family and friends, and loved people watching. She enjoyed helping others, playing cards, completing word searches, listening to radio "talk" shows, listening to music, and playing the piano, which she taught herself to "play by ear." Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Beverlee (Jerald) Murphy of Bettendorf and Debra (John) Allen of State Center; grandchildren: Stephanie Murphy and Amy (Mike) Kintner of Bettendorf; Kylee (Aaron) Amdor of Delano, MN; Brad (Laura) Allen of Ankeny and Jeff Allen of Westminster, CO; great-grandchildren: Claire and Hannah Kintner; Caleb, Cameron, and Caitlyn Allen; Evan Amdor. Other relatives include: sister-in-law, Edith Stuckmyer of Marshalltown; sister-in-law, Betty Weuve of Austin, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arnold "Mike" and Elinor Weuve of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters: Helen Weuve and Alice Prehm and one brother: Arlo Prehm.
