Ethel Cermak, 87, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at her home in Ferguson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in Ferguson, Iowa at the Ferguson Bible Church. Ethel was born on April 16, 1929 in Eagle Bend, Minnesota. She was the daughter of August and Ada Jacobs. Ethel was united in marriage to Robert Cermak in 1951, and resided in Marshalltown for fourteen years. In 1965, they moved to Ferguson where she lived for the remainder of her life. Over the years, Ethel was employed at the Lillie Mae Candy Shop, the Clifton grocery store, the Thunderbird Motel/Restaurant and the Ferguson Elementary School. She loved animals. Consequently, caring for many pets and stray cats and dogs was a primary activity in her life. Ethel is survived by three children: Ray of Des Moines, Loretta of Ferguson and Roger of Mabank, Texas; five granddaughters; two great-granddaughters and a great-grandson. Ethel is preceded in death by her husband: Robert; parents August and Ada; sister Dorothy Beilke and many other family and friends.
