Mrs. Etheleen Veren, 86, of State Center, died Monday, January 12th, at the State Center Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 16th, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center with Pastor Joan Swander officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery at State Center. Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Etheleen German on March 21, 1922, at State Center, she was the daughter of Lorenz and Aleta (Gerke) German. She attended St. John's Parochial School and graduated from the State Center High School in 1939. She later attended the Central Iowa Business College in Marshalltown. Etheleen was employed at J.D. Robertson -attorney in Marshalltown, Fisher Controls, Walter Eckhardts and the State Center Creamery from 1966 until its closing in 1984. On September 26th, 1943, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Eugene Veren at St. Johns Lutheran Church. They made State Center their home all of their married lives. Mrs. Veren was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Women of ELCA, American Legion Auxiliary, Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association and formerly the Central Iowa Flywheel Association, 500 Card Club and the Y Hobby Craft Club. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, making baptismal gowns for the great-grandchildren and items for family and loved each and every one of her family members. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Ron (Dona) Veren of State Center, Linda Good of State Center, Sherril (Larry) Aldridge of Indianola, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two brothers: LaVern and Lanny German and sister Eloise Klemme all of State Center as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her husband Kenneth, parents, son-in-law Robert H. Good, and granddaughter Miranda.
