Eugene "Gene" Kresl

Eugene “Gene” Michael Kresl, age 92, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, September 3rd, 2020.  Cremation rites have been accorded and no public service is planned at this time.  The Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Eugene and his family.  For further information or to leave his family a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Gene was born July 30, 1928 in Omaha, NE to parents Frank and Martha (Kastl) Kresl. He grew up in Weston, NE and graduated high school from Brainard, NE.  He obtained his Master’s Degree in Music Education and taught at Marshalltown schools and later at SEMCO.  After retiring from teaching, Gene owned and operated Kresl Music Center in Tama. He also played the trumpet in a touring polka band. He is survived by his son, David Kresl of Marshalltown; sister-in-law Barbara Kresl; several cousins and many nieces and nephews. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Nadine Broyles and 2 brothers, Jerry (Sophie) Kresl and Don Kresl.
