Eugene "Gene" Robb

Eugene L. Robb, 92, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away at home on June 23,2019 under the care of Iowa River Hospice with his loving family at his side.    A visitation for Eugene will be held on Friday, June 28 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 Rosary at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home with Father Don Czapla officiating, also at the funeral home. Full military honors will be rendered at the graveside service being held at Riverside Cemetery following the memorial service.  Memorials in Eugene’s name may be directed to his family for later designation. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Eugene and his family.    Gene was born May 28, 1927 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Jess and Loraine (McLaughlin) Robb. He attended school in the Marshalltown Community School district and graduated in the class of 1946. Gene enlisted in the Iowa National Guard. He later enlisted into the Army and served from 1950-1952. He was a member of the American Legion of Marshalltown. He was employed at Lennox Industries for 43 years. He had started in the mailroom and had advanced to sales department upon his return from the Army. He was a member of the city council and served for three terms. He was first elected to the office in 1967. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He had married his wife Eleanor Bartholomew on May 27, 1951 and were the proud parents of six children.    Left to cherish his memory are his children Patricia Luethje of Marshalltown, Nancy Zitzow (Steve Hagen) of Garwin, Sandra Robb of Marshalltown, Philip Robb of Nashville, Tennessee, Mary(Jeff Lippincott) Robb of Marshalltown, and Jennifer Robb of Marshalltown; six grandchildren Chris (Sandra) Robb, Sarah (Clyde) Kennedy, Kimberly (Mike) Haley, Jill (Kenny) Ziemke, Matthew Robb, Joe (Lucy) Robb, Makenzie Robb, Jesse Hoeft; great- grandchildren Emily, Hailey, Carter, Drake, Josie, Kayden; great-great grandchild Eleanor (Ellie); Sister Audrey Robinson; sister- in- law Mavis Nelson.    He was proceeded in death by his loving wife Eleanor of 64 years; parents Jess and Loraine Robb; brother John; sister Kate; and son-in-law Rollie Luethje.
