Euna Pearl Christensen

Euna Christensen, 77, of Gladbrook, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice Home. Euna Pearl Langenbau was born on November 7, 1935 to William and Velma Prehn Langenbau at their home near Gladbrook. Euna attended country school near Garwin and graduated from Garwin High School. After high school; Euna went to a Tech School in Omaha, Nebraska. After Omaha; Euna moved to Detroit, Michigan to work at the FBI where she met Tom Christensen who was an Iowa farm boy and was in the United States Air Force at Selfridge Field. Euna and Tom where married on May 10, 1955 in St Clair Shores, Michigan. In 1956 they farmed near Goldfield, Iowa and in 1960 they farmed in Gladbrook. In 1976 they moved near Grinnell to farm and then in 1993 they once again moved back to Gladbrook to farm. Euna also worked at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown for 25 years and retired in 1998. Euna treasured her family and especially her grandchildren, she enjoyed flowers and gardening, spending the winters down in Alamo, Texas and enjoyed playing games. Euna also enjoyed volunteering at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 58 years; Tom; children; David Christensen of Gladbrook and June (Kevin) Veenstra of Grinnell. Grandchildren: Alex, Dustin and Samantha Veenstra. Brothers: Orlyn (Doris) Langenbau of Marshalltown, Raynard (Rhea) Langenbau of Gladbrook and Harvin (Sharon) Langenbau of Waukee, Iowa: sister Verona (Marvin) Staker of Traer, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. Euna is preceded in death by her parents; William and Velma Langenbau.
