Evalyn L. Tribby, 94, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully at the Villa del Sol Nursing Home, on August 25, 2014. Funeral services for Evalyn will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday August 29, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Ellcey officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 28, 2014, from 5:00 8:00 p.m., also at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Evalyn was born in Unionville, Missouri, on November 30, 1919, to parents, Neal and Elena (Walker) Guffey. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1937, and attended the Iowa Teaching College, later known as UNI. On June 8, 1940, Evalyn married Clarence Eugene Gene Tribby, in Bethany, Missouri. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, baking, playing cards. For 12 years, Evalyn and Gene made annual trips to Texas. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter #67 and Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. She especially enjoyed the many activities of her family and she was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. Evalyn is survived by her children: Ann Kent of Marshalltown, Neal (Ginger) Tribby of St. Marys, Iowa, and Terri (Mike Dalbec) Leavy of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Deb (Steve) Parizek, Jack (Amber) Kent, Kevin (Lesley Berting) Tribby, Rod Tribby, Theresa (Chris) Hall, Matthew Leavy, Trisha (Shawn) Archer, Joel Leavy, and Jaymee Dalbec; 21 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Jeanette Broyles; and many nieces and nephews. Evalyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Tribby; her parents; two sisters, Maxine Johnson and Hazel Alley; and a brother in infancy, Oren Guffey.
