Evelyn Prim

July 23, 1928 — November 16, 2018

Evelyn Prim, age 90, former longtime Marshalltown resident, passed away on Friday, November 16th, at the Oxbow Living Center in Ashland, NE.           Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 26th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Herschberger of Our Savior Lutheran Church officiating. Ph. 641-844-1234.            Born Evelyn Rossella Groves on July 23rd, 1928, in Tama, IA, she was the youngest of three children born to Walter Arthur and Helen Johanna (Mosey) Groves. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School.           On March 15th, 1952, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Howard Prim, at the 1st Baptist Church in Marshalltown. They made Marshalltown their home where she was employed at Noid’s Floral, Renner’s Flowers and later Rose Hill in the floral design departments specializing in corsages. She also was employed at Anson School where she met two lifelong friends, Shirley and Sue.            Flowers were a highlight of Evelyn’s life. She enjoyed working with them as well as admiring them from afar. She will be fondly remembered for her cooking skills- especially beef and homemade noodles and her favorite food- popcorn. Mrs. Prim was a member of the former Bethany United Methodist Church and the Y Rusty Hinges.           Left to cherish her memory are her children- Cindy (Doug) Loseke of Bellevue, NE and Monte (Gloria) Prim of Loveland, CO; four grandchildren- Chad Stanley of Ft. Worth, TX, Shane (Ali) Prim of Loveland, CO, Matt Prim and Cody Prim both of Loveland, CO; two great grandchildren Adalyn and Myla of Loveland, CO, as well as other family and friends.            In death, Evelyn rejoined her parents, husband Howard and siblings Marcella and Arthur.
