On February 17, 1951, Everett was united in marriage to Dorothy Bohrer at the Methodist Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. In 1955, Everett and Dorothy moved to Marshalltown and Everett worked for Fisher Controls for 13 years. While also raising and showing Chinchillas, Everett owned and operated a miniature golf business for a number of years, first located on Madison Street before moving it to Hwy #30. Everett founded, owned and operated Evs Ice Cream for 25 years, located on old Hwy#30 for 2 years before moving to its South Center Street location. Everett was always busy doing many projects as a remodeler of homes, and selling Christmas trees and Wreaths during the holiday season. He had been a member of the Kiwanis, Moose, and First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing horse shoes, golf, and traveling, but anytime with family was a highlight and very important to him. Everett always had an idea for a new invention throughout the years. He and Dorothy enjoyed going to Mesa, Arizona for the last 30 winters.
