Everett Wood, 87, of Marshalltown, died early Friday morning, January 5th, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. His death came peacefully at 2:02 a.m. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 8th, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Conrad Lundberg officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church one-hour prior to the services. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Everett and his family. Ph 844-1234. Everett was born on January 9th, 1919, at Brooklyn, Iowa, he was the son of Otis and Alice (Egulf) Wood. He received his education in the Brooklyn High School. On July 31st, 1940, he was united in marriage to Rosezella Maiden at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Grinnell where he farmed, did farm management and was a Biology Tech at the Grinnell College for 22 years. The couple moved to Marshalltown after retirement. Everett was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown, past of the Grinnell Kiwanis Club, Boy Scout Leader and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed the outdoors, plants and flowers, reading, playing bridge, his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by many. Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife of 66 years, Rosezella, daughters Joye (Thomas) Welsch of Glenview, IL, and Judy (George) Hill of Marshalltown, grandchildren; Jeff Hill, Dr. Chris Welsch, Jennifer (Greg) Laible, great-grandchildren Joshua and Jessica Kate Welsch, Sarah and Anna Laible, his sister Margaret Anderson of Marshalltown, brother Glen Wood of San Juan, Arizona, his church family and many friends. In death he has rejoined his parents and his son, Dr. Dennis Wood, who passed away December 23rd, 2006.
