Florence Funke

Florence Funke, 90, of State Center, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at State Center Nursing and Rehab Center, with her loving family by her side. Funeral services for Florence will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Mitchell family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be directed in Florences name to her family. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Florence and her family. Florence Shill was born on November 18, 1924, on the family farm, south of Laurel, the daughter of Harold and Mabel (Fehrman) Shill. She was raised and educated in the Rhodes School District graduating from Rhodes High School. On June 25, 1955, Florence married the love of her life Eugene Funke at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. From this union one daughter was born: Linda Funke. Florence worked at Woolworth and Marshalltown Manufacturing for a short time before spending the rest of her years as a homemaker. She had a passion for gardening, embroidering, canning but most importantly her family. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter: Linda Funke; one dog: Spencer who is a Maltese. She is preceded in death by her loving husband: Eugene; parents: Herald and Mable; four brothers: Leonard, Marvin, Charles and Fred; one sister: Kate.
