Florence Watts

Florence Watts, 92, of State Center, died Friday, May 16, 2008, at the State Center Nursing and Rehab Center.Cremation rites have been held. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at St. John United Church of Christ in Melbourne. She will be buried in the Melbourne Cemetery. Ph 641-844-1234.Florence Gertrude Edwards was born on November 26, 1915 in State Center, to Louis and Clara (Riemenschneider) Edwards. She graduated from State Center High School. On February 27, 1936, she married Lyle Watts in State Center. They lived their entire married lives in the Melbourne area. Lyle passed away in 1986. Florence worked at the Tall Corn Luncheonette in Melbourne, the old county home, and was a volunteer at the IVH. She won a Governors Award for Volunteering in Iowa. She was also President of the Melbourne American Legion for many years. She devoted much of her life to helping others through her volunteer work.Left to remember Florence are her children.
