Floyd Richard McDowell, 61, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Following cremation, graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshalltown. There will not be a visitation. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Floyd and his family. Floyd Richard McDowell was born October 21, 1951, in Marshall County, Iowa, to Ray and Florence LaVern McDowell. On November 25, 1970 he was united in marriage to Dianne Aloise Rank at the Little Brown Church in Chickasaw County, Iowa. He was employed at Marshalltown Instruments until it closed. A short time later, he went to work at Lennox Industries in Marshalltown. Floyd enjoyed his family and keeping up with history events both past and present. Floyd is survived by his wife Diane McDowell of Marshalltown, his son Joel (Carrie) McDowell of Minnesota, his daughter Stacie (Dion) Perry of Marshalltown, his five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, his mother Florence LaVern McDowell of Marshalltown, his brothers; Kevin McDowell of Enid, Oklahoma, Brent (Rhonda) McDowell of Marshalltown. Floyd was preceded in death by his father Ray McDowell, his uncle Bob McDowell and grandparents Richard and Bessie Kelly and Gretchen and Floyd McDowell.
