Floyd Spidell, 62, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday night, December 19th, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. His death came peacefully at 7:50 p.m. with his family at his side. With respect to his wishes, no services will be held at this time. Born on August 18th, 1945, in Nebraska City, NE., he was the son of William and Nora (Shane) Spidell. He received his education in the Monroe and Newton area and in early high school, moved to California. He graduated from the Culver City, California, High School in 1964. On November 7th, of that same year, he was united in marriage to Carlene Kloth in Las Vegas. They made their home in Culver City until moving to Iowa in 1971 and Marshalltown in March of 1984. He was employed at Midland Transportation and Swifts until his retirement. Mr. Spidell was a member of the Marshalltown Church of Christ (formerly the Boone Street Church of Christ), now at 5th Ave and State Street, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, family get-togethers, rounds of visiting at Kwik-Star and Hy-Vee, and treasured his family. Left to celebrate his memory are his loving wife of 43 years, Carlene, two children: Norlene (Warren) Carmer of Marshalltown and Chris (Karla) Spidell of State Center, five grandchildren: Rachelle (Jon) Burke, Joseph Witte, Zack Campton and Carlita Witte all of Marshalltown and Nikki Campton of State Center, great-granddaughter Aaliah Burke and due on April 11th, of 2008 is great-granddaughter, Kaylee Burke. Also surviving are his brothers Clyde of Des Moines and Jerry of Colfax and sister Beverly Shepherd of Newton as well as nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, sister Annabelle Spidell in infancy and brother, Edward William Spidell.
