Frances Matney

Frances Jean Matney, 82, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, died Monday, December 28, 2009, at the Valley Manor Hospice in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday until service time. Frances Jean Peterson was born on September 13, 1927, to Fred and Fern D. (Hulsizer) Peterson at home in Legrand, Iowa. She attended school in the area of her birth. On February 18, 1945, Frances married Ronald E. Matney Sr. in Marshalltown. They resided in Marshalltown, Lamoille, and Excelsior Springs Missouri. Frances had retired after 20 years at H and R Block. She had also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 28 years. The most important thing in Francess life was her family. Se also enjoyed camping, going to the Vets Hall, and the casinos. She will be missed by her children, Dennie (Rhonda) Matney of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Kennie (Martha) Matney of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; her ten grandchildren; and her 20 great-grandchildren. In death, she rejoins her parents, her husband Ronald, her son Ronald Jr., her daughter and son-in-law Connie and Donald Grein, her grandson JasonMatney, her great-grandson Dillan, her great-granddaughter Audrey; her sisters Shirley Allen and Wilma McGehee; and her brother, Bob Peterson.
