Frances Parsons, 103, of State Center, died Thursday morning, May 8th, at the State Center Nursing and Rehab Center while in their loving care and the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 12th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home West Marshall Chapel, 104 W. Main Street, State Center with Pastor Harlan Nuss of the LaMoille Congregational Church officiating. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the services. She will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery at State Center. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph 641-483-2900. Born Frances Mayo on July 27th, 1904, in Lamoille, Iowa, she was the daughter of William and Emma (Hennis) Mayo. She graduated from the Lamoille High School in 1922 and later attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls for two years. Frances taught rural school for three years. On September 22nd, 1925, she was united in marriage to Alva Parsons in Marshalltown. They made their home in the State Center area and she taught school. Mrs. Parsons was a lifelong member of the LaMoille Congregational Church and the Womens Fellowship, and a member of the State Center American Legion Auxiliary. Left to cherish her memory are, Viola Lang of State Center, Judith Carr of Davenport, Dorothy Fisher of Garwin, Okal Grote of Enterprise, CA., Ronald Parsons of Freewater, Oregon and George Parsons of North Carolina all her nieces and nephews as well as many great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews. In death she has rejoined her beloved Alva who died in 1990, daughter Wanda Jean in 1942, two sisters, nephew Noel Keen and her parents.
