Fran Frani White, 74, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, September 27th, 2011 at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 3rd, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2nd from 5:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Harmony House in Waterloo, IA (2950 W. Shaulis Rd., Waterloo, IA 50701). Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Fran and her family.Frances Jane Boriskey was born on October 29, 1936, the seventh child of Lester and Sarah (Wolcott) Boriskey. She attended school in the Tama School District and later graduated with the Tama High School class of 1955. On September 13, 1958, she was united in marriage with Jerry Kopel. Fran later married Darroll White on July 1, 1989. Fran worked in the secretarial field for many years, including at Willett and Willet Attorneys in Tama, the Mankato, Minnesota school system, and the Marshalltown school system, spending 18 years at Rogers School. There she was known to the students as Miss Fran. She retired in 2003. Fran enjoyed gardening, holiday get togethers, cooking, watching college basketball, and helping plan her class reunions. Most important to her was her family.Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 22 years, Darroll White of Marshalltown. She is also survived by her daughter Jill (Steve) Simons of Marshalltown, her son Jack Kopel of Cedar Rapids, her step-sons Aaron (Mary) of Des Moines and Geoff of Illinois. Her grandchildren are Sarah and Beth Simons of Chicago, IL, Courtney Simons of Cedar Falls, Anna and Ashley Kopel of Cedar Rapids, and Alex White of Des Moines. Her surviving siblings are Dorothy (Dodee) Denbow of Torrance, CA, Helen (Rudy) Brezina of rural Montour, Carole (Leonard) Dvorak of Toledo, and Jerry (Sylvia) Boriskey of rural Montour.Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Sarah, her sisters Jean Geiger and Margaret Brezina, and her brothers Joe and Frank Boriskey.Fran was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
