Alice De Francis Craft Lampe (Fran Lampe), 79, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday, April 30th, at the Villa Del Sol Nursing Home while in the care of Iowa River Hospice and Villa Del Sol staff. Visitation will be Sunday May 4th from 4-6 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A celebration of Frans life will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 5th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born on November 19, 1928, in Marshalltown, Fran was the daughter of Frank and Louverne (Thompson) Craft. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1946. In 1951, Fran was united in marriage to Don Lampe. The couple moved to Los Angeles, CA where they later divorced. During High School, Fran worked as a cashier at the A&P Grocery Store and then for Marshall County Abstract following graduation. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she worked for Land Title Insurance Company. She later became an Escrow Officer, retiring in 1998. Fran then returned to Marshalltown to care for her sister. Fran was a long-time member of Eastern Star. She loved combing the beach, collecting sea shells and rocks. She also loved traveling with her friends, knitting, reading, and decorative painting. Left to cherish Frans memory are her cousins: Carol Arenas, Linda Johnson, and Virginia Sorensen; her neighbors Herb, Dee, and Roger Holder; and her adopted daughter and very dear friend Ilah Morey. In Death, Fran has rejoined her parents, sister Leta Pond, brother-in-law Louie Pond, and life partner of 35 years Bill Evans.
