Francis David Watson

Francis David Watson, 94, of the Iowa Veterans Home, died there Friday, January 6, 2012. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements. Per his wishes, no services will be held. A private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Francis was born August 5, 1917, in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, the son of Eva Pauline and Francis Ignatius Watson. In 1948 he was united in marriage to Helen Grace Lanphere. He was a major in the Army Air Corps in World War II and a mechanical engineering graduate of Drexel Institute, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For eighteen years Frank was employed as a Sales Engineer by Fisher Controls of Marshalltown. From 1970 through 1976 he was employed as General Sales Manager for Kieley Mueller Company in Middletown, New York. He was a member of St. Marys Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his four children; F. Dan Watson of Columbus, Ohio, H. Lynne Watson of New York City, New York, Lorraine Watson of Ankeny, Iowa, and Michael F. Watson of Marshalltown, three grandchildren; Michael Mauton, Christine Watson and David Watson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Watson, his parents and one sister Florence Bright.
