Francis Wilcox Jr.

March 13, 1931 — August 21, 2020

Francis E. Wilcox, Jr. passed from this life on August 21, 2020.  He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on March 13, 1931 to F. E. and Alice (Havens) Wilcox. He graduated with a degree in Agriculture from Iowa State University.  On August 3, 1952 he married Roberta Price.  After spending time serving in the US Air Force in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, they settled on the family farm back in Marshalltown. Their children are Lisa (Larry) Dykstra, Mitchellville; Linda Hershey, Cedar Falls; Steven Wilcox, Marshalltown; and Laura (Fred) Thomas, West Des Moines.  He has 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  Roberta passed away August 2, 1996.  On July 15, 2001 he was blessed to be joined in marriage again to Kathy Lund.  She was a loving care and support for him these last 19 years. From this union, he gained two step daughters Michelle (Rob) Stapp and Elizabeth (Adrian) Puente and three step-grandsons.  He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown where he was much involved with teaching Sunday school for adults and youth, and served as a lay leader.  He developed a relationship with Jesus when he got involved with Camps Farthest Out. He had a love for God and the family that He gave him, and an appreciation for the land that he worked.  He was a retired Major in the Air Force.   He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Roberta, siblings Shirley Conn, Wilbur Wilcox, Roberta Knudson, and a great granddaughter Naomi.  Services will be held on Friday, August 28 at First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown at 10:30 AM. Seating for the service is limited and masks will be required. For those who are not able to be in attendance, the service will be livestreamed and a video will be placed online to the First United Methodist Marshalltown YouTube page. Graveside service with military honors immediately following at Riverside Cemetery.
