Frank Borton, age 91, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at UnityPoint Health Marshalltown.
Funeral services for Frank will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Frank’s name may be directed to his family for a later designation. Frank Harvey Borton was born April 27, 1935 in Mormon Ridge, Iowa. He was the third of six children born to Clarence “Archie” and Bertha (Bumbauger) Borton. From a young age, Frank grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa where he later graduated. He served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard.
He began a career with Fisher Controls in Marshalltown at age 16. During this time, he met Dorothy Kinney and it was love at first sight. They were united in marriage on October 3, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They continued to make their home in Marshalltown and raised a family of six children, Linda, Connie, Doug, Larry, Tammy and JoAnn. Frank’s work at fishers progressed and retired in 1994. He was a longtime member of Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. In his free time, he enjoyed taking trips to casinos for some afternoon fun along with Dorothy, fishing, finding hidden treasures with his metal detector.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Dorothy; his children, Connie Grommet, Doug (Pennie) Borton, Tammy (Chris) Egleston, JoAnn VerBeek and his son-in-law, Burke Aschan; 17 grandchildren, Jill, Michael, Jason, Alex, Matthew, Hannah, Michelle, Shannon, Jacob, Joseph, Jody, Brittany, Sean, Seth, Tyler, Chelsea and Zach; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; his sister, Iona Brown and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In eternal life, Frank is rejoined with his children, Linda Aschan and Larry Borton in infancy; his parents, Archie and Bertha Borton; and his siblings, Viola, Helen, Imagene and Floyd.
