Phone 641-844-1234. Frank Paglia was born on February 5, 1921 to Armando and Rose (Chidicomo) Paglia. Frank was the third child of eleven and was raised in Marshalltown, Iowa. Frank enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of seventeen. His primary duty was to make sure the ships were always in good working order. During his time in the service, Frank traveled to San Francisco, the Solomon Islands, Okinawa, and Nagasaki. While he was in Nagasaki, bombs were being dropped, and one of his duties was to clean up what he could after the bombing was over. Frank Paglia married Darlene Goodman on July 24, 1948 bringing together his son, Denny and Darlenes children, Robert & Carol - an instant family of five! Their blessings increased over the years as they added a son, Timothy and a daughter, Pamela to the mix. They lived in Marshalltown for most of their child-rearing years until 1958 when they purchased a farm and Frank set about to build Darlene her dream home in the country. Frank worked for Fisher Controls from 1940 to 1979, retiring at the age of 58. He also farmed from 1958 until the time of his death. Many years were enjoyed spending summers at their trailer home in Lake City, Minnesota. Family members gathered each summer to fish, ski, swim and enjoy time together. The family grew so large, that eventually reservations had to be made or friends in the campground would lend their trailers to the family. Frank spent many hours in his work shop, making crafts to sell, to decorate all of his childrens and grandchildrens homes from knick knacks to heirloom cribs. In 2001 they decided to give up the farmstead and move back to Marshalltown. They found a wonderful condo where life was easy and the pool room was large enough to handle those massive family parties! Frank always made his famous salad that we all loved and of course, some poison too! Frank is survived by his two daughters, Carol (Roy) Emerson & Pam (Stan) Norman, two sons, Tim (Carol) Paglia & Denny (Charity) Paglia, and one daughter-in-law, Diane Paglia, brothers Tony, Jim, and Joe, sisters Angie Medearis and Ann Barlow, nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert (Bob) Paglia, brothers Greg and Mike, sisters Margaret Barlow, Catherine Nelson, and Mary Hambrick, a grandson-in-law, David Mower, and his beloved wife, Darlene, who died in 2008. Frank & Darlene have spent a lifetime working to provide for themselves, their children, and their many grandchildren. They left a legacy of love and hard work that is instilled in our hearts.
