Franklin Caudill, 72, of the Iowa Veterans Home, died there on Monday evening, August 8th. He became a member of the Iowa Veterans Home family in January of 2008. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 15th, at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery. There will be no visitation. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Franklin and his family. Born Franklin Eugene Caudill, and soon nicknamed Buddy, on October 27th, 1938, in Auxier, Kentucky, he was the son of Warnie and Stella Mae (Selvage) Caudill. He received his education in the area of his birth. When he was 19 he enlisted in the United States Marines and served our country honorably until March of 1961. He then came to the Hammond, Indiana area to reside with his sister and brother-in-law and work at the steel mills. Later, Franklin moved around the country and was employed in various jobs. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Wanda June Pitts and Betty Lewis of Hammond, Indiana as well as his family at the Iowa Veterans Home and nieces and nephews. In death, Franklin rejoined his parents and brothers Edmond and Jarlis.
