Fred Douglas Brown, III, of Cincinnati, Ohio, most recently a one-month resident of Marshalltown, died early Friday morning, May 27th, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Fulfilling his Muslim beliefs, burial occurred within a day of his death at the Center School Cemetery near Marshalltown. Prayer rites and rituals were conducted at the Muslim Mosque in Iowa City. Born on August 5th, 1966, in Pittsburgh, Alleghany County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Fred Douglas Brown Sr. and Rev. Marlene B (Holmes) Brown. He was little when he gained the nickname Manny Pants and later, Dougie. He received his education at the Schenley High School in Pittsburgh and later a degree in electronics and cyber-electronics. For many years, he shared his life with Donna Meredith in Cincinnati where he lived until coming to Marshalltown to be close to his brother, Cedric (and his sister-in-law Becky) when his health declined. He had also lived in Columbus, Ohio. Fred was employed with the State of Ohio in maintenance and enjoyed cooking and music. He will be greatly missed by his longtime companion, Donna Meredith and their 20 month old son, Fredric Douglas Brown, IV, his mother Rev. Marlene Brown Holmes, siblings Cedric Lamonte Brown of Marshalltown, Rachel Brown, Mary Brown and Vanessa Brown, sister-in-law Becky Reisinger of Marshalltown and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends in Ohio and Pittsburgh. In death, he rejoined his father Fredrick Douglas Brown Sr., his great-grandmother Rosa Belle Saunders, Aunt- Rachel Coker, Aunt-Louise Hightower and grandmother, Mozel Card.
