Fred Seymour, 66, of Marshalltown, died Thursday morning, April 19th, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. No services are planned at this time. Cremation rites have been held. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Fred and his family. Ph 844-1234. Born on January 16th, 1941, in Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Loyd and Annie Luiza (Sprouse) Seymour. He graduated from high school in Muscatine in 1959. He was employed at Joyce Lumber until serving our country proudly in the United States Army until receiving his honorable discharge in 1966. He was stationed in Germany. On June 11th, 1966, he was united in marriage to Betty Vandercook in Princeton, Missouri. He returned to work at Joyce Lumber and then for Fisher Controls many years until retiring at age 62. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and the UAW Retirees. Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 40 years, Betty, their daughter Denise Stephens of McKinney, TX, grandchildren: Zoe, Breanna, and Mia Stephens, sisters: Jenette (DeVern) McClurg of Cedar Rapids, Ann Marie Slaybaugh of Cleveland, Minnesota, brothers: Russell Seymour of Des Moines and Steven Lewiston of Roseburg, Oregon as well as a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents
