Fred Ward

Frederick Lindsay Ward Jr., 77, of Marshalltown went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 11, 2008 after complications following heart surgery. Funeral services will be held at The First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, Thursday July 17, 2008 at 11:00a.m. with Rev. Dale Batcheler officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Frederick and his family. Frederick was born September 28, 1930 to Frederick L. Ward Sr. and Mildred (Moran) Ward of Marshalltown. Fred graduated from Marshalltown High School and then went on to earn his Bachelors Degree from Iowa State University. Fred served in the United States Air Force and the Air Force Reserves. He owned and operated Fred L. Ward Lumber in Marshalltown.Fred is survived by his daughter, Marci Ward of Salinas, Ca., his son Paul Ward, daughter-in-law Diana Ward of Bondurant, his grandsons Steven Ward of Bondurant, Robert Ward of Ankeny, Daniel Ward of Bondurant, his two sisters and their spouses Elizabeth and Charlie Heiden of Clive, Rosemary and Chuck Harvey of Cedar Rapids, and his best friend Kay Lowry of Gladbrook. In death, Fred has rejoined his beloved son, Steven Thomas Ward, and his parents Frederick and Mildred Ward.
