Freda Ahrens 75, of rural Marshalltown died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Grandview Heights Nursing Home in Marshalltown and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February, 18, 2011 at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6:00to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Phone 641-844-1234.Freda Claybrook was born in the family farm home in Poweshiek County, south of Grinnell on September 7, 1935; she was the daughter of Ralph and Emma (McIlrath) Claybrook . She attended the Grinnell school district graduating from Grinnell High School in 1953. On June of 1955 she was married to Jerry Ahrens. After her graduation she began work as a secretary, receptionist and she continued in the office field for the next 30 years. She then was a caretaker for her mother who had a massive stroke. Freda and her husband Jerry purchased a business of their own in Gilman before finally retiring.Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years Jerry, Fredas children; Cheryl(Dennis) Villebrun of Appleton, Wisconsin, Susan Stallwood of Mason City, Marsha(Mark) Hintch of Ft Dodge, Iowa and Randall (Lisa) Ahrens of Rhodes, Iowa, grandchildren: Eric and Christopher Hillmann of Appleton, Wisconsin, Keith Stallwood of Knob Noster, Missouri, Taylor and Austin Hintch of Ft. Dodge andstep-grandchild Joseph andone great-grandson ,Jaxzen Auers-Hillmann, one brother: Duane Claybrook of Omaha, Texas and one sister Evelyn Osborn of Grinnell.Freda was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest brother Wendell Claybrook andtwo nephews, Lonnie Claybrook and Garland Osborn.
