Frieda Gerke

Frieda Gerke, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

There will be a public visitation at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 15. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 16 at 10:30 A.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. She will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in State Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown or to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.

Frieda was born on April 4, 1927, in Germany. On January 15, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald L. Gerke at St. John Lutheran Church in State Center. They made their home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

In 1953, Frieda started working at Cooper Manufacturing, where she worked for 26 years until her retirement. She then enjoyed being home doing things she loved to do.

Frieda and Donald enjoyed traveling to Europe on many occasions to visit her family. She was known to many for her kindness and caring ways. She will be missed by her many family and friends.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews in Germany and the United States.

In death she has joined her husband Donald, her parents, two sisters and many dear friends.
