Gail L. Reese, age 66, of Gladbrook, Iowa passed away on Tuesday September 9, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Per Gail and his family’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A funeral service has been scheduled for Sunday, September 14, 2025, starting at 1:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Chad Cook will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation one hour prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Gail Lynn Reese was born on October 29, 1958, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Marvin Edward and Eunice Jane (Wilson) Reese. Prior to his military service, Gail attended school at the Marshalltown School District. He proudly served his country in the Unites States Army. On October 21, 1977, Gail married the love of his life Susan Boucher, and they lived in Marshalltown, prior to moving to Gladbrook. During his working career, Gail laid field tiles for Schmitz Construction until his retirement. He was a proud member of A.B.A.T.E (A Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education) of Iowa. In his free time, Gail enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Susan, his children: Brian (Shannon) Reese of Nevada, Krystal Reese of Gladbrook, Amy (Linus) Reimer of Germany, and Lisa Cox of Marshalltown; his grandchildren: Ali Reese, Justine Reese, Aiden Reese, Tyler Reese, Samantha Reese, Trenton Geiken, Elisabeth Bueghly, Mistry Carmer, Charydin Carmer, and Damien Carmer; his great-grandchildren: Skylar, Braxton, Kingston, Ryker, Elle Reese, Emerson, Elias, Oakland, Callen, Emmett and Henry; his siblings: Edward Reese of Lamoille, IA, Jeff (Sherry) Reese of Marshalltown, and Jane (Charles) Burgstahler of Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gail is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his parents Marvin and Eunice; his brother Joseph Reese; and his great-grandson Hayden Reese.
