Garnet Boisvert, 79, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral service on Saturday from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Garnet and her family. Phone 641-844-1234. Garnet Rosemary Heuer was born on August 22, 1930. She was born to Stanton and Ruby (Hulbert) Heuer and raised by her parents Ewald and Lillie Lorenzen. She graduated from Marshalltown High School and later graduated from Marshalltown Community College. She moved with a friend to the Chicagoland area. There she met Fabian Boisvert, her soulmate and lifetime love. They fell in love and got married on December 31, 1948, in Hammond, Indiana. The couple lived in Hammond until Fabians death in 1985 and Garnet moved back to Marshalltown. Garnet was employed for many years as an office manager for a carpet company in Chicago. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing solitaire, quilting, crocheting, cooking and baking, babysitting her grandchildren, and spending time with her cat. Left to mourn her loss are her children Diane (Duane) Roum of Haverhill and Carolyn Boisvert; her 11 grandchildren Justin Boisvert, Vanessa (Danny) Westlake, Melinda (Jon) Keaton, Joshua Roum, Benjamin (Megan) Gonzalez, Elizabeth (Adrian) Gallegos, Sarah Roum, Anthony Baldazo, Katie Roum, Candy (Danny) Thomas, and Rick Klien; her many beloved great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law Phyllis Boisvert; her sister Caroline Hiemstra; and her nieces, nephews, and cousins. In death she rejoins her beloved husband Fabian, her son Roy Boisvert, her birth parents, her mother and father Ewald and Lillie Lorenzen, her brother Dale Lorenzen, her grandson Andre Gonzalez II, and her beloved cat Sylvia. Garnets family would like to extend their gratitude for all who cared for Garnet, especially to Care Initiatives Hospice, Mercy Hospice, her home health care aides and nurses, Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center, and Dr. Pollpeter.
