Garol Cooling

Garol M. Cooling 90, of LeGrand passed away surrounded by his family at 4:33 on Sept. 24. Celebration of life service for Garol will be at LeGrand Friends Church on Saturday, October 2 at 10:30 A.M.        Interment will be at the Friends Cemetery with immediate family following the service. Mitchell Funeral Home is caring for Garol and his family.               Garol Merl Cooling was born on Nov. 13, 1930 along with his twin brother Darol Earl to Eldon and Julia Cooling. He had 11 siblings. They are a very close-knit family. He graduated from Clemons high school in 1949. In school he enjoyed basketball and baseball. His senior year they went to state in baseball where he was a catcher. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp with his twin brother from Aug.10, 1951 to Aug. 10, 1953.         Most of the residents of LeGrand came to know him for running the Mobil station here in town. He opened the station on Memorial Day 1970 and ran it for 32 years.    He married Ruth Jackson on Feb. 14, 1964. Between them they had 7 children. David/Cindy Lukehart, Nancy/Moose Slingluff, Denise/Dan Crookshank, Jean Cooling/Bob, Mike Cooling/Vicki, Lisa/Randy Kurtz, Deb/Tim Main. Grandchildren Will/Michelle, Matt/Heather, Alysha/Bannon, Travis/Lynsey. David/Christine,Leah/Nick, Josh, Nate/Stacie, Denae/Geremy, Chase/Ruth, Erica, Michael/April, Elaine/Clay, Doug/Ashlynn, Kendra/Nathan, Jon/Nikki, Tanner/Cassie, Jessica/Zach, Kyle, AmiJo/Aaron, Adam/Jaclyn and 34 great grandchildren.                        He is survived by his siblings Vernon/Ruthie, Lyle/Joyce, Margaret/Dick Hajek, Duane/Deb and sisters-in-law Lois and LouAnn. Also, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Joe Griffiths. He is proceeded in death by his wife of almost 56 years, Ruth, his parents Eldon and Julia and bothers Art/Ester, Daryl/Joyce,LaVonne/Walt Walters Dale, Lloyd, Dallas/Mary and Gary Cooling. He is also proceeded in death by his father and mother-in-law John and Ruth Jackson.                         He will be loved and missed by many.
