Gary D. Hall of Garwin, Iowa passed away in the early morning of Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday before the service. The family would like Garys street rod friends to bring their car to the service and they will go on one last ride after the service and refreshments. Gary Duane Hall was born at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Centerville, Iowa; he was the son of Rex and Lola (Lewis) Hall. Gary attended school in the BCL Community School District and graduated with the Class of 1966. He served his country honorably in United States Army as a Radio Operator from 1968 until 1969 in the Vietnam War. On February 18, 1978, Gary was united in marriage to Joan K. Pomeroy in Las Vegas, Nevada and lived in Garwin for the last 36 years. Gary worked at Fisher Controls for 37 years. He was a member of UAW, Marshalltown Street Rods, Christian Rodders & Racers Association, and the Goodguys Car Club. He had a long list of things he enjoyed, rebuilding his street rods ('35 Ford and '57 Ford), going to car shows, listening to 60's and 70's music, collecting music, going to many concerts, he and Joan loved to dance, putting together model cars, and visiting with family and friends. He loved his family - especially his grandkids. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 39 years, Joan; daughters, Emily (Joel Looft) Hall of Marshalltown and Sara (Matt) Pullen of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Cora, Lola, Haddie Jo and Miles; siblings, Donald (Ellen) Hall of Gladbrook, Elaine Turnbull of Marshalltown; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death Gary rejoins his parents, Rex and Lola; siblings, Dean Hall, Marge Richeson, Dick Hall and Floy Brewer.
