Gary M. Killion, 78, of Marshalltown, formerly of Grinnell, passed away at home on Sunday, June 27, 2021 under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Per the wishes of Gary and his family, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A family led celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Born December 17, 1942 in Madrid, Iowa, Gary Mack Killion was the son of Donald “Moes” and June (McCabe) Killion. After graduating from Grinnell High School, Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force and honorably served for four years. Upon his return, he settled down in Grinnell and later Laurel. Gary worked for Emerson – Fisher Controls in Marshalltown for 26 years before his retirement. He met the love of his life, Pam (Edwards) Patrick and they were united in marriage on June 2, 2000. In retirement, they spent five years living in Green Valley, Arizona before returning to Marshalltown, where they have since called home. Gary was an active member of the American Legion, the Elks Club in Grinnell and several bowling leagues. He loved reading books, watching Fox News, playing golf, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed mowing lawns and taking his dog on car rides. Gary had a love/hate relationship with his favorite team, the Hawkeyes. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 21 years, Pam Killion; his children: Serina Stabenow, Chanda Edgar, Nicholas (Angie) Patrick, Robert Killion, Kelly Killion and Michelle Glaze; 4 granddaughters: Josephine, Lilly, Amelia and Emily; mother-in-law, Fern Edwards; his faithful dog, Nigel and all of his hunting and fishing buddies. In death, Gary is reunited with his parents, Moes and June; his sister, Kathleen Lippincot; nephew, Mike; his father-in-law, Wayne Edwards and sister-in-law, Sandy Edwards.
