Gary Romig

Gary Romig, 67, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, February, 16, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at a later date. Phone 641-844-1234 Gary Dennis Romig was born on April 7, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, to Harry and Elsie (Schmidt) Romig. Gary was educated in the area of his birth. In 1960, Gary married Beverly Jacobs, and they later divorced. In 1971, he married Helen Linhart and they later divorced. Gary then married Sandra Premer in Marshalltown. Gary had lived in the Albion and Marshalltown area all his life. He had been employed by Fisher Controls for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Gary enjoyed bowling, playing pool and riding his motorcycle. He was an avid Cubs fan, as well as a Hawkeye fan. Gary enjoyed eating -- especially pizza. Gary will be remembered as a people person, as he knew everyone. He always loved the babies and they loved him. Left to cherish Garys memory are his wife, Sandra of Marshalltown; his children, Roxann Romig and Wendy Romig-Thomas, both of Marshalltown, Shelly (Tyrant) Gosset of Killeen, Texas, and Meagan Sumpter and Luke Draeger, both of Marshalltown; as well as 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Shirley Cooper of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and brothers, Larry Romig of Manley, Iowa and Roger Romig of Des Moines. In death, Gary rejoins his parents; his brother, Jerry Romig; a stepson, Mark Draeger; and his first wife, Beverly.
