Gary Lee Weitzell

Gary L. Weitzell, 84, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2019 at Grandview Heights Rehab & Healthcare.  Per Gary’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed in Gary’s name to the family, which will later be designated elsewhere. Gary Lee Weitzell was born on August 2, 1934 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Harold and Nadine (Glass) Weitzell.  Gary attended school in the area and graduated high school at Green Mountain. Following high school, Gary honorably served his country by enlisting with the US Navy. On July 18, 1958 he married the love of his life, Geraldine “Geri” Grabenbauer, and they just celebrated their 61st anniversary. From this union, they were blessed with three children, Doug, Deb and Dave. Gary was a hard working dedicated employee of Dunham-Bush for over 30 years, where he proudly retired.In Gary’s free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, but most importantly was the time he spent with his family. Left to cherish Gary’s memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Geri; his children, Deb (Mark) Warmbier and Dave Weitzell; grandchildren, Carrie Warmbier, Cody (April) Weitzell, Tyler Weitzell, Sami Warmbier, Brittney (Brody) Fisher, and Ali (Lucas) Walker; 5 great grandchildren with 1 on the way; and brother Mike (Betty) Weitzell. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Doug Weitzell (2015).
