Gayle Lynne Fricke, age 70, of Clemons, passed away on Saturday, January 4th, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 10th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery with full military honors presented by the combined American Legion and VFW Honor Guard in the Marshalltown Area. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Born Gayle Lynne Smith on March 28th, 1954, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Chalmer and Voda (Metz) Smith. She attended school through the 6th grade in Albion and then the Marshalltown Public Schools, graduating in 1972.
Gayle served our country honorably in the United States Army in 1974-1975 as Military Police at Fort Carson, Colorado.
Upon returning to the Central Iowa area, she began working at the Clerk of Court, retiring from there after 30 plus years. She also worked alongside her husband Larry, at Frickeville Antiques in State Center. Gayle enjoyed antiques and refinishing furniture, gardening and time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are Larry, her loving husband since March 15th, 1985, her son Scott (Lindsay) Rice of Marshalltown; grandchildren Peytience Rice (Jordan Banes), Holden Rice, Brady Rice and Jadyn Rice; her sister Lorrene Collins and many nieces, nephews and family members.
In death, Gayle rejoined her parents, her son Jason Rice, sisters Cheryl Harris and Bette Choate and brothers Dennis and Gary Smith.
Family is requesting that friends and family dress casual to the vistation and funeral.
