Gayle Vincent Stalzer

Gayle V. Stalzer, 84, of State Center, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

Graveside services for Gayle will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Gayle Stalzer was born to Joseph and Rose (Schoborg) Stalzer on December 11, 1939 at their home. He attended school in the Laurel and Haverhill area. Gayle went to work for Fisher Controls in April of 1966 until retirement. Gayle also worked at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown for a few years. Gayle was united in marriage to Nancy Spencer on October 1, 1966. Born to them were three children: Michael and Robin who live at home and Tony (Sheila) Stalzer of Marshalltown and a daughter of their heart: Sheri (Myron) Fox of Marshalltown. Gayle loved his Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings as well as hunting and fishing.

Along with his children and wife; Gayle leaves behind grandchildren: Kyla Stalzer and Tanner Stalzer of North Carolina, Gage (Mae) Stalzer of Germany, Jennifer Fox and Jeremy Fox of Marshalltown, Jordan (Kayli) Fox of Floyd, Iowa, Jalexis Fox and Jacob Fox of Marshalltown, Kylie (Dalton) Ferch, Kolby Steiert (Laura Crawford) and Abby Steiert (Colson Frakes). Great-grandchildren: Tayven and Mateo Fox of Floyd, Iowa, Leighton, Landry and Lincoln Ferch of State Center and Cohen Frakes of Marshalltown. He is also survived by his siblings: Betty Stanton of Haverhill, Cyril Stalzer of Laurel and Rosemary (Jeff) Chapman of Haverhill along with several nieces, nephews and his dog, Gus.

Gayle is preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Rose Stalzer; siblings: Patty Bartlett, David Stalzer and Roger Stalzer in infancy, grandson Jesse Fox and his dog Buster.
