Gaylord Brown, 72, of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Gaylord Lavern Brown was born on June 2, 1944, in Nevada, Missouri; he was the son of Arthur and Jessie (Holladay) Brown. He attended school in the New Providence Community School District. He was united in marriage to Delia Clarke and they were blessed with two children, Teresa and David. They later divorced. He later married Laura Frerichs in New Providence and made their home in Grundy Center. Gaylord had worked in many areas during his life, maintenance supervisor at a housing complex in Coralville, Iowa; he had worked in sales of tools and ladders, and worked as a parts man for two different implement dealers before coming to Whitten and also worked for Hauser Implement as the parts person. After retiring he worked part time for NAPA in Conrad, Iowa until his death. A highlight of his life was to ride his 89 Harley Davidson Sportster, which now has over 140,000 miles on it. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Laura; daughter, Teresa Hacker; granddaughters, Ashley and Maggie; stepchildren, Ian (Candace) Frerichs of Grundy Center, and Anita (David) Eberly of Turtletown, Tennessee; 3 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great grandchild; brothers, Hershell Brown of Marshalltown, Gilbert Brown of Albion, Gearld (Kate) Brown of Whitten, Iowa; sister, Shirley Sizemore of Kirksville, Missouri; sister-in-law Shirleen Brown; brother-in-law, Oscar Duncan; and many nieces and nephews. In death, Gaylord rejoins his parents, Arthur and Jessie; sister, Juanita Duncan; brothers, Floyd and Chester Brown; twin siblings that passed at birth; son David Brown; sister-in-law, Charlene Brown; and brother-in-law George Sizemore.
