Gene McKibben, 72, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Grandview Healthcare and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016, at the funeral home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Gene Arthur McKibben was born in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of Robert and Helen (Faulkner) McKibben. Gene attended School in the Albion Community School District graduating with the class of 1961. On November 30, 1962, Gene was united in marriage to Dixie Hurtt in Eldora, Iowa they had resided in Albion until this past year when they moved to Marshalltown. Gene worked for Marshall County Secondary Road Department retiring in 2005. Gene had been a past member of the Albion Fire Department and had served on the Albion City Council and as the Mayor of Albion, Iowa. He loved working in the dirt, farming or working the ground on the big equipment. Left to cherish Genes memory is his wife of 53 years, Dixie, Children, Kent(Tara) McKibben of Iowa Falls, Iowa Terri(Todd) Parrish of Le Grand, Iowa, his grandchildren, Connor, Dalani, Kelcy and Rilee McKibben and Trevor (Brooke) and Tanner Parrish, Siblings, Lynn(Cindy) McKibben of St Louis, Missouri and Laurel(Larry) Eibs of Laurel, Iowa. In death Gene rejoins his parents, Robert and Helen.
