Gene Storjohann

Gene Storjohann, 78, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services for Gene will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Alex Post officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, where Genes family will be present to greet friends. Gene will be laid to rest at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Gladbrook following services. Memorial contributions may be directed in Genes name to his family. Storjohann was born on June 7, 1937, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of John and Erma Alice Aleda (Harders) Storjohann. He was raised and educated in the Gladbrook school district, graduating from Gladbrook High School with the class of 1954. Following high school, Gene honorably dedicated his services by enlisting with the United States Navy, where he proudly served four years. Gene was united in marriage to Janice L. Richards who were blessed with three children: Dietta, Mark, and David. They later divorced. In 1979, Gene was united in marriage to Carole Klinefelter. He was employed with Pepsi Cola Company, Fisher Controls and Marshall County Secondary Road. Gene was a proud member of the Green Mountain Lions Club and Redeemer Lutheran Church. He had many passions in life including; spending time with his family, being outdoors, fishing, gardening, spending time on a combine helping friends on the farm, playing his guitar for others and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. Left to cherish Genes memory are his children; Dietta Fiscus, Mark Storjohann, David Jay Storjohann, Dee Klinefelter (Brenda), Craig (Connie) Klinefelter, Lisa Klinefelter and Chris Klinefelter; grandchildren: Amy (Ryan) Stotts, Shelly Fiscus, Travis Storjohann, Amber Storjohann, Dustin Degner, Kelly (Matt) Grossman, Jamie Degner, Cam (Dieter) Vogel, Trevor (Teeni) Schellhorn, and Chris (Janey) Potter; great-grandchildren: Lillian Stotts, Kaidyn Bekooy and Jaxon Dobbins; siblings: Marlene Wiebensohn of Gladbrook, IA and Carol Torkelson of Ellsworth, KS; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carole Storjohann; grandson, Casey Storjohann; and parents, John H. and Erma Storjohann.
