George Walters

George Walters, 97, of Zearing, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 surrounded by friends at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

George was born February 18, 1927 in his family home. He was the son of Henry and Minnie (Delesky) Walters. George attended school in Hubbard, Iowa and graduated in the class of 1945.

On May 10, 1953, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Margaret Frerichs. Together they worked George’s family farm for many years and later sold the farm and called Zearing, Iowa their home. He was a member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hubbard, Iowa. In his free time, he enjoyed birdwatching, taking long walks, feeding all of the stray cats within the neighborhood, and having conversations with many people.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 and a half years, Margaret Walters; his parents Henry and Minnie Walters; and his brother Donald Walters.
