Georgia Rosalind Eich (77) of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on January 7th, 2016. Visitation will be held on Tuesday January, 12th, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on January 13th, 2016, at 1:00pm at Faith Assembly of God in Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family. Georgia Rosalind Merkel was born to George and Alma (Elwell) Merkel on October 23rd, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was raised and educated in McCallsburg, graduating with the class of 1956. Following graduation she attended college at Marshalltown Community College, obtaining her certification as a nurses aid. On April 11th, 1981, Georgia and Charles Eich were united in marriage at the Church of God in Marshalltown. Together they made their home here, to raise their family. Georgia loved church and was a member of Faith Assembly of God. She also volunteered at the Caring Center and was involved with the Central Iowa Choral Society. She loved watching the western channel reading church literature and human interest stories. She also liked to work in her yard. Left to cherish her memory is her husband; Charles Eich, children; Rosalind Ellis, Serena (Mark) Benda, Jaymie Underkofler, Andy (Melissa) Eich, siblings; Vergie Colt, Gladys Peter, Pauline McGinty, Jean Koelsch, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In death, she rejoins her parents; George and Alma Merkel, brothers; Roylance Merkel, Charles Merkel, sister; Doris Dahl, son; Nicholas Gohring, daughter; Wendy Gohring, grandson; Westley Underkofler.
