Gerald "Jerry" Dean Claussen

Gerald “Jerry” Dean Claussen, 87, of Garwin, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook.

Public visitation for Jerry will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. A private family burial will be held at the Garwin Union Cemetery at a later time. Memorials may be directed to the family. Gerald “Jerry” Claussen was born on May 17, 1936 in Marshalltown. He was the son to Peter and Katherine (Delfs) Claussen. Jerry graduated from Garwin High School in 1954. He would go on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. Jerry farmed since 1969, and also had been a mechanic and a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Garwin American Legion Post 71. Jerry enjoyed farming, welding and was a simple hard working man. He was also a very social person and a great listener.

Jerry is survived by his children: Stephen (Lorie) Claussen of Garwin and Chaun (Charlie) Gamache of Globe, Arizona. Grandchildren: Hallie, Stephenie, and Emilie Claussen and Izzabell Gamache. He is also survived by his sister: Karlene West of Phoenix, Arizona, along with other extended family members.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents: Peter and Katherine; brother-in-law: Victor and his niece: Jackie.
