Gerald "Jerry" Klosterman

Gerald “Jerry” Klosterman, 74, of Rhodes, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.

Services for Jerry will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rhodes United Methodist Church in Rhodes, Iowa. Visitation will be on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Gerald Klosterman was born on January 29, 1950 in Marshalltown. He was the son of Edward and Rita (Lang) Klosterman. Jerry served his country honorably in the United States Navy for two tours. In 1972, Jerry was united in marriage to Jelma “Jill” Newman. Jill would pass away in February of 2007. Jerry would later marry Gale Nitch on January 1, 2008 at their home in Rhodes. Jerry had worked for Fisher Controls as a machinist and retired in 2011. He was a member of the Rhodes American Legion, VFW and AMVETS and was on the Rhodes City Council for a total of twenty-two years. Jerry cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed doing yardwork, gardening, golfing and meeting his friends for a beer. Jerry also loved motorcycles and hotrods. He also enjoyed volunteering his time and was very active in getting the tank memorial coordinated in town.

Jerry is survived by his wife of sixteen years: Gale. Children: Michael (Chris) Klosterman of Holiday Lake, Dale (Teresa) Bellus of Rhodes, John Bellus of Idaho, Teri(Mike) McGuire of Shannon City, Iowa, Cheryl (John) Feyen of Loveland, Colorado and Tim Klosterman of Washington. Grandchildren: Amber, Angel, Brittany, Doug, Hannah, Heidi, Jake, Joe, Jon Eric, Kurtis, Steven, Sydney, Tatum and Tyler. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and siblings: Duane Klosterman of Eldora, Ken (Judy) Klosterman of California, Ron (Jean) Klosterman of St. Anthony, Ed (Cyndee) Klosterman of Arizona and Jane (Phil) Gowdy of Ankeny.

Jerry is preceded in death by his first wife: Jill; parents: Edward and Rita; siblings: Lola (Bob) Fouch, Charles Klosterman and in-laws: Sharon Klosterman, Linda Parker and Larry Nitch.
