Gerald Ole Konicek , 71, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Gerald George Konicek was born on September 2, 1942, in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of George Martin and Gladys (Tressic) Konicek. He attended School in the Toledo Community School District graduating with the Class of 1961. Gerald was united in marriage to Phyllis DuToit and they later divorced. On October 6, 2001, Gerald and Diane( Dole) Jones were united in marriage at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He had worked for Alliant Energy retiring after 40 years of employment. Gerald loved to fish and enjoyed woodworking, but his favorite time was spending time with all his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 12 years, Diane of Marshalltown, Iowa, Children: Sherri Konicek of Garwin, Iowa, Kimberly (Scott) Nekola of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brett(Kelly) Konicek of Toledo, Iowa. Step-children: Amy (Allen) Cork of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Lisa(Christopher) Matthiesen of Ottumwa, Iowa, Matthew (Kristin) Jones of Urbandale ,Iowa and Timothy(Megan) Jones of Mt Vernon, Iowa. Grandchildren: Tiffany Konicek, Kaitlyn Nekola, McKenna Nekola, Austin Heltibridle, Dalton Konicek, Noah Cork, Nicholas Cork, Trey Cork, Eve Cork, Zachary Matthiesen, Samuel Matthiesen, Lucus Matthiesen, Austin Jones, Tyson Jones, Aida Jones and Milo Jones, Siblings: Joleen(Dave) Timm of Tama, Iowa and Douglas( David) Konicek of Stonyford, California. In death Gerald joins his parents, George and Gladys and father-in-law, Richard Dole.
