Gerald Wayne Schuler Joe, 74, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held right before the service from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Joe Schuler was born on February 6, 1939, in Colo, Iowa, the son of Russell and Lucille Troutner Schuler. Joe graduated from Rhodes High School in 1957 and enlisted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1960. On November 10, 1966, Joe was united in marriage to Jean Rayburn at First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Joe retired from Fisher Control after over 35 years with the company. Joes interests included hunting, fishing, race cars (he was on a pit crew) and worked on go-karts with his brother; he would travel to Las Vegas for two months out of every year and he just loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Jean. Children: Lori(Tim) Bowden of Winsted, Minnesota, John Schuler of Marshalltown, Kris (Ruben) Jaime of Omaha, Nebraska and Steven (Pamela) Schuler of Raleigh, North Carolina. Brothers: Merlyn Schuler of Rhodes and Morris (Elaine) Schuler of Albion and a sister, Ilene (Richard) Jones of Rhodes. Eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lucille.
