Gladys Umbaugh, 79, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, April 28th, at her sons home in Calhan, Colorado. Her death came peacefully at 1:40 p.m. with her family at her side and in care of the Odyssey Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5th, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Gregg Davison officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Born Gladys Stine on October 26th, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of Jessie Lee and Mary Ellen (Heathcote) Stine.On November 30th, 1957, in Moline, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Darrell Umbaugh. They made their home in Marshalltown where she was employed at Swift and Company for 32 years. Mrs. Umbaugh was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. Gladys or Happy Bottom as she was affectionately known by family and friends, enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, cooking and the joy of kids.Gladys has left the legacy of her family: Darrell- her loving husband of 51 years, her children: Jerry (Linda) Umbaugh, Gene (Diana) Umbaugh, David Umbaugh (Delpha Kerr) and Sharolyn (Greg) Case, twenty grandchildren: Robby, Anissa, Angela, Matt, Adam, Dan, Tanya, Tandy, Aaron, Carrie, Shantell, Cassie, Zackery, Dustin, Eme, Sharlotte, Joshua, Jared, Amanda, and Jena; 26 great-grandchildren: Cohen, Casen, Caden, Cooper, McKenna, Zacary, Tyler, Treyvor, Logan, Cheyenne, Jon, Darrell, Devin, Sierra, Kaden, Nathaniel, RaeLynn, Kaden, Landen, Maiya, Cale, Jayla, Keelie, Kailee, Ashlinn, Alexus, her brothers: Cliff Heathcote and Charles Stine. In death she has rejoined her parents, son Kenneth Pinky, brother Bud and sister Edna.
